Elephant, Loxodonta africana, family Elephantidae. For their enormous size, elephants are quiet animals and blend in well with their surroundings. They also climb hills. Like giraffe, elephants must eat constantly in order to sustain their large bodies. They only sleep a few hours a day. We spotted a male elephant grazing on the opposite side of the ravine in front of our cabin. His tusks are visible.
