This exhibit is posted on a wall along Robben Island's arrival dock (the same wall as in the picture itself). It looked like the picture could have been taken during World War II, but the Volkswagen in the foreground would be out of place. Actually, this picture was taken in 1961 of the first political prisoners arriving on the island. They were barefoot and poorly clothed.
