Black rhinoceros, Diceros bicornis, family Rhinocerotidae. A rhino's horn is made of hair and is sharpened by friction. We did not always have to go far to see wild animals. This rhinoceros was grazing next to the main lodge. While the animals often seemed tame, it was emphasized that they really are wild and a respectful distance must be maintained.
