When talking about European travel, Maria almost always brings up a trip she made to Italy as a young adult. In particular, she remembers lounging on the shores of Lago Maggiore, one of a series of glacial lakes in northern Italy near the Swiss border. So, our trip included a visit to Italy's northern lake district, among other destinations. (
